Mint Dentistry is named a 2015 and 2016 Opencare Patients' Choice Winner!

Opencare recognizes clinics from each city across North America based on the reviews and opinions of verified patients. Opencare also compiles reviews from third party sources like Yelp, Google, and RateMDs, to objectively determine their winners.

We would like to thank all of our patients for their continued support and we look forward to meeting more friendly faces in the new year!

Our Philosophy

Focus on Health

We believe in taking an integrated approach to your oral health which focuses on prevention and healing rather than just disease and treatment. Our goal is to maintain your healthy smile for a lifetime.

Value in Education

Patient education is a critical component of what we do. We explain your oral health to you in detail, using photographs or videos as needed, and answer any questions you may have. We listen, and take the time to ensure you are understood, and heard. Engaged patients are the best kind.

Commitment to Quality

Our mission is to offer an uncompromising commitment to quality care for every patient we see. We look forward to sharing our experience with you.

Our Technologies

Just a few ways our office is different.

Living Wall

As soon as you enter our office, you'll see what makes Mint different! We value a healthy calming environment for our team and patients alike.

Our reception area houses a completely recyclable, vibrant plant wall that works to counteract all of the outdoor pollutants from air and vehicles that we breathe on a regular basis, and to promote clean air circulation. Our beautiful living filter prevents the buildup of carbon dioxide, increases the relative humidity of the office, decreases airborne dust and minimizes off-gassing levels. Plants rock.

Surgically Clean Air Filtration

Air quality in a dental office is adversely affected by disinfectant sprays and sterilization chemicals used to keep instruments and work areas clean. In addition, aerosolized tooth and filling material float on the air. If a practice has a closed ventilation system, it recirculates all of these substances.

Our office has open air exchange with the outdoors plumbed in. Our air purifier system from Surgically Clean Air combines the most effective air sterilization and purification technologies in the world into a single dedicated device exceeding international standards. Sterilization involves four capture stages for airborne particulate matter, and two kill stages for VOCs, bacteria, and viruses. We are proud to incorporate this clean technology for everyone's benefit.

Vistaclear Water System

We use a dedicated waterline for our operatories, equipped with a VistaClear water filtration system. This chemical-free system features sub-micron level filtration, which further reduces any microbial contaminants that may still reside in Toronto's already very clean city water supply. Built in meters in the system constantly monitor the quality of water produced.

Minimizing human interaction and streamlining our water sterilization procedures maximizes quality control.

LED Lighting

Throughout the office, you will see environmentally friendly LED lighting. We share your commitment to making eco-conscious business and lifestyle decisions. The LED bulbs we use in our clinical working areas allow for colour mixing, crisp illumination and selective curing of dental materials. These bulbs save energy, reduce costs, minimize waste due to their long lifespan, and are at the forefront of dental lighting technology.

Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation

For patients suffering from temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), painful muscles, headaches, and altered jaw function is a way of life. We can help. Using our TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation) machine, we can apply safe, low-level electrical stimulation to your head and neck, allowing built up lactic acid and waste by-products to clear, and muscles to heal. Healthy muscles and joints are necessary to healthy mouths that last a lifetime.

Digital X-rays

Digital radiography is the single greatest advancement in medical imaging in the last decade. Images are crisp. Radiation is minimized. Image files may be viewed in multiple locations or shared with specialists. No development chemical waste is generated. Physical film wrapper waste is eliminated. At the end of the day, digital X-rays provide convenient, accurate diagnostic imaging at minimal environmental impact and radiation exposure.

Ergonomic Choices

You may notice a more subtle distinction that our office enjoys; the chairs seem more comfortable, the angles less awkward, and there seems to be better flow down the hallways. We have paid particular attention to getting the ergonomics right. Our patient chairs are the most ergonomically correct chairs on the market, and feature soothing massage options to keep you comfortable and relaxed. The doctor and assistant stools are designed for optimal positioning.

We wear surgical loupes for magnification and additional LED lighting. Better visualization of the millimeter-sized fields we work in means superior colour accuracy, anatomy, and realistic appearance for our patients.

Intra-oral Cameras

Pictures really do speak a thousand words -- especially when in place of scientific dental jargon!

Intra-oral cameras allow our patients to see what we do. Visualization allows us to create a collaborative environment between patient and dentist. At Mint, we won't just tell you what we see in your mouth. With the aid of the camera, we'll show you, and help you understand the significance of everything we see. Thanks to the camera, patients are actively involved in the management of their own health, aesthetics and function.

Our Services

We provide all the services you need to leave with a bright white healthy smile on your face!

Teeth Whitening

Do you have dark or stained teeth? Or maybe they just need a lift? Let us help. We offer in-office and take-home whitening with the latest technology. Let us give you a whiter, brighter, more confident smile!

Bridges & Implants

If you are missing teeth, one way to replace them is with bridges, which are anchored to the adjacent teeth. Alternatively, you may choose to use dental implants which allow you to replace the missing tooth without affecting any other teeth. Dental implants have become a fast, safe, and inexpensive way to restore function you thought may have been lost forever. Replacing missing teeth as an adult is important as loss can lead to shifting of the other teeth, difficulty chewing, and jaw and muscle problems.

We promise to never turn away a dental emergency. Even on our busiest days, we will find the time to see you and get you out of pain. Whether you're an existing patient or you walk in as a new patient, you're in good hands.

Sports Guards

Some people might say this wouldn't be Canada without the occasional puck to the teeth. That may be so, but you shouldn't have to choose between your pearly whites and the great frozen game!

Whatever your sport may be, we can help protect your smile with a custom fitted Pro-Form Sports Guard . Compared to the standard one-size-fits-all, "boil and bite" mouth guard sold in sporting goods shops, these mouth guards:

  • have much more consistent thickness of material throughout the guard
  • fit snugly, so they won't pop out when you open your mouth
  • won't impede your breathing or speaking

In addition to protecting your teeth from damage and your mouth from cuts as a result, custom fitted sports mouthguards have actually been shown to reduce the risk of concussion.

Healthy teeth can last a lifetime. Give yours the protection they deserve.

Invisible Orthodontics

Invisalign is a type of clear braces which straighten your teeth. Unlike conventional braces, they are almost undetectable, are removable (important for proper cleaning of your teeth), yet they can still achieve beautiful results. And it's not just for teenagers - adults can have it too!

Amalgam Removal

Amalgam fillings -- commonly referred to as "silver fillings" -- are an alloy of mercury and other metals (commonly silver, tin and copper) and have been in use by dentists for over 150 years.

Mint Dentistry does not use amalgam for new fillings. Newer filling materials offer better strength and longevity, can be matched to the natural colour of your teeth, and sidestep the complications involved in safely working with and disposing of mercury. Use of modern filling material in new fillings also decreases our staff's overall exposure to mercury.

Although mercury is known to have various toxic effects on the human body, the amount of mercury released to the body by an undisturbed amalgam filling is generally regarded to be low. When amalgam needs to be removed from a tooth, however, the risk of mercury exposure is increased, due to heat generated by drilling and the aerosolization of the material.

Dentists all over the world remove millions of amalgam fillings every day, often with insufficient concern for mercury exposure resulting from grinding them out. At Mint, when amalgam needs to be removed, we have the skills and equipment to do it according to protocols established by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. We minimize your exposure and ours by taking steps to ensure amalgam isn't swallowed, inhaled, absorbed through the skin, or released into the water system.

Another way to replace missing teeth is with dentures, which are removable appliances. This is often useful if you are missing multiple teeth. Whether you are missing some or all of your teeth, a denture may be an option to help restore your chewing ability and your smile.

Sometimes, a tooth is beyond repair and needs to be removed. While this can be a stressful event, we strive to make our patients as comfortable and pain-free as possible. We will always ensure excellent anaesthesia before we begin any procedure, and we check in with our patients often to confirm an informed and comfortable appointment.

Periodontic Therapy

Gums and bone are the supporting tissues for the teeth, so naturally, healthy gums and bone are key to a healthy mouth. When routine cleanings are not enough, we offer adjunctive therapies to treat gum disease and in turn, prevent unnecessary tooth loss.

Nervous at the dentist? We understand that dental treatment is stressful for a lot of people. We are happy to offer sedation for fearful patients, such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as well as other options. Please let us know how we can help you find your happy place.

Root Canal

Did you know that teeth are alive?

There are nerves and blood vessels inside every tooth that keep the tooth healthy, functioning and pain-free. Unfortunately, sometimes the nerve inside a tooth may be traumatized from a large cavity, an accident, or an old leaking filling. In such cases, the tooth can become painful and infected, or die. A root canal removes the infection and unhealthy tissue from within the tooth and, in turn, relieves your pain. On back teeth and heavily damaged teeth, an onlay or crown is often adhered after the root canal is complete to restore full function.

Regular dental visits are paramount to maintaining a healthy mouth. Our hygienists gently scale with ultrasonic and hand instruments, polish, apply fluoride at your option, and give oral hygiene advice for self-care at home. Additionally, they routinely screen for oral cancer, assess jaw positioning and muscle comfort, and check for airway problems including sleep apnea.

Our hygiene appointments are tailored to your individual needs. We take the time to discuss, educate, and work with you to help you achieve your dental health goals.

Do you suffer from chronic headaches? Do you grind your teeth at night? Does your jaw hurt by the end of the day from clenching your teeth? It might be a dental issue.

If your jaws are misaligned or your upper and lower teeth do not bite together in a balanced way, jaw and muscle pain is often the result. If you experience chronic pain, difficulty chewing, headaches, ringing in your ears, sleep apnea, or tightness or clicking in your jaw, please let us know. We can help.

Teeth can be restored many ways, depending on your individual needs. Dentistry has come a long way from the silver fillings and big bulky white fillings of the past. We can now replace only the broken down parts of the tooth with mechanically and chemically bonded restorations to restore full strength, aesthetics and function. Gone are the days when cavities meant fillings that turned into bigger fillings, then root canals and crowns.

Restoring your teeth is best accomplished in one of two ways.

If the cavity or fracture is small, we can colour match composite resin filling material to your tooth and fill in the hole. Resin fillings help restore your teeth to their natural beauty, often without anyone noticing the filling is even there!

If a tooth is badly broken down or compromised, a filling may not be strong enough to withstand the daily stress of chewing. Similarly, a filling may not be adequate to make a heavily discoloured tooth look beautiful. An inlay, onlay, or crown covers a larger portion of the tooth, restoring its colour, shape, strength, and natural good looks.

We will, of course, discuss the best options for you and help you make the best decision you can.

We love kids! Did you know a child's first visit to the dentist should be after the first tooth, or before the first birthday?

As parents of young children ourselves, we know just how to coax a reluctant youngster into the chair, or maintain the enthusiasm of a dentist-loving little one! We stay up to date on the latest guidelines and expectations for our smallest of patients.

Our paediatric visits are specially designed for children, and we make their comfort our priority. We believe in earning their trust and we achieve that in numerous ways. The first, and most important way is we give them enough time to acclimate to the office. We do not rush, and we do not force. We will show, and let children touch the instruments, explain what we plan to do, give them autonomy when we can, and include parents in the process.

Whether it's routine visit, a first introduction to the dental environment, or just a quick hello, we're happy to see you!

There are many ways to remake a smile that you are unhappy with. It can be as simple as whitening, or cosmetic bonding, and as transformative as a full mouth smile makeover with veneers and crowns. We can help improve the colour, shade and shape of your teeth, as well as correct misalignment, jaw and bite issues, and alleviate muscle pain. We can change your life.
